Look for new signage
Excelsior Springs Medical Center is entering phase 3 of its construction project, and the public will see some big changes.
"Our patient and visitor entrance will be relocated for the next few months in order to renovate the front area of the hospital," said hospital CEO Sally Nance.
Nance said new signage will direct patients to the back of the hospital, where they can access the facility through the Rehab Services entrance. Once patients are inside, more directional signage and volunteers will help patients get to the temporary admitting area.

Only Emergency Room patients should enter through the ER entrance, as that area will be enclosed and not available as a public entrance for the next few months.
This latest phase of the 28,000-square-foot addition to the hospital comes as the major part of the construction is fully visible to passersby. However, Nance also took the opportunity to quell one of the rumors going around.
"We are not building a pink addition," she said, referring to the salmon-colored wall surface currently in place. In fact, she explained, workers have already begun laying bricks which will provide an exterior facade for the building.
The new addition could be ready for operations by November, but some parts of the project may not be fully complete until early 2009.
