Excelsior Springs Hospital Installs
State-Of-The-Art High Field MRI System

Excelsior Springs Residents to Benefit from the Quiet and Open design of the Toshiba Vantage to dramatically improve the MRI experience for patients.

The quiet and open design of the Toshiba Vantage (pictured at right) is dramatically improving the MRI experience for patients. Excelsior Springs Hospital has installed the Vantage as the flagship MRI machine at its new 5500-square-foot Radiology Building in Excelsior Springs, MO. The system boasts a 65-centimeter (26 inch) opening and patented noise reduction technology.

The Vantage’s patient-focused features significantly improve patient comfort and increase the range of patients who can undergo a MRI exam. Claustrophobic and obese patients are now able to be imaged with MRI because the open bore provides a greater feeling of openness. Toshiba's patented Pianissimo (TM) technology dramatically reduces acoustic noise, the most significant cause of patient discomfort during a MRI exam. Finally, patients sensitive to contrast agents now have an option for a contrast-free MRA exam.
"The quietness of the unit is dramatic when compared to other MRI systems on the market," said Stacy Meseberg, Radiology Director. Additionally, our patients will really appreciate the more comfortable, wider, shorter bore. In fact, all of these features will have referring physicians and patients recommending our MRI.
Maintaining our reputation for high levels of patient care due to outstanding image quality was paramount in our purchasing decision," explained Stacy.
Radiology Medical Staff Director Dr. Christine Keesling stated, "We are excited that high quality MRI will be available locally to patients in the Excelsior area. The remodeling of the Radiology Department makes an enjoyable, comfortable experience for all patients needing imaging services."
The MRI machine has the ability to do free blood imaging for patients that cannot tolerate contrast due to kidney problems/issues. Unlike other imaging technologies, MRI does not rely on radiation, but instead, combines a large magnet with radio waves and computers. The Vantage uses a 1.5 tesla magnet.
The Vantage system, manufactured by Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc., allows ESH’s medical staff to acquire high-quality, precise images required for immediate and accurate detection of disease or injury.
MRI technology is used to identify tumor masses and other abnormalities throughout the body including the head, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities, as well as to examine bone and joint injuries. In many cases this type of diagnostic information cannot be acquired using any other medical procedure, except surgery.
Excelsior Springs Hospital provides a full range of comprehensive healthcare services to the residents of Excelsior Springs and surrounding areas. Please call 816-629-2700 to schedule your physician ordered exam today.
