Health Care Services

At Excelsior Springs Hospital, we consider it both our privilege and duty to serve our community. We are committed to excellence in patient care and to the educational support that helps prevent illness.

Utilizing the latest in technological advances, each member of our medical care team strives to uphold ES Hospital's tradition of quality patient care. At the same time, our community programs reach out to young and old, offering a variety of educational and preventative health opportunities.

Emergency Department
The Emergency Department is staffed 24 hours a day by a physician and an all RN staff.  Equipment is up to date and top of the line.  Our new ED is larger and more comfortable for patients and their families.  Our ED wait time is shorter than the average in the Kansas City area.  Call 816-629-2747 or 816-629-2748 for services available.

The Hospital works in cooperation with LifeFlight Services.

A combination of both respiratory therapy and cardiology make up the components of the Cardiopulmonary Department. Echocardiography, cardiac stress testing, ambulatory holter monitoring and pulmonary lung studies are a few of the diagnostic procedures performed by department staff. Trained therapists administer EKG's, emergency and routine therapies 24 hours daily. Our sleep lab is available by appointment 7 days a week.

At Excelsior Springs Hospital, the department of surgery meets your surgical needs from the pre-surgical testing phase, throughout the surgical experience and recovery. Highly trained and qualified surgical technologist, surgical nurses, surgeons and anesthesiologist are on staff at ESH. Specialty services include General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, and Podiatry Surgery. Our orthopedic surgeons have extensive training in pediatric orthopedics, orthopedic trauma, orthopedic oncology, hand surgery, foot and ankle surgery, and total joint replacement. Our equipment has some of the newest technology available.

While you may get the same surgery elsewhere, you won’t receive the same warm and caring services offered at Excelsior Springs Hospital. Choose quality healthcare close to home by choosing Excelsior Springs Hospital Surgery department.

Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide sensitivity and support for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Under the direction of the patient's primary physician, hospice uses sophisticated methods of pain and symptom control that enables the patient to live as fully and comfortably as possible. Hospice treats the person, not the disease. Our team is made up of professionals who address the medical, emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of the patient and family. Hospice care seeks to enable patients to carry on an alert, pain-controlled life and to manage other symptoms so their last days may be spent with dignity at home or a home-like setting.

Hospice care involves the patient and their family in the decision making process regarding care for the patient. Support is also available to the family for a year after the death their loved one. Hospice services are provided 24-hours daily. Volunteers play an important role in Hospice care. For more information on our Hospice Angel Program, click here.
